The Push to Be More Energy Efficient

With ethanol and biodiesel plants under construction the U-S is gearing up to break its dependency on foreign oil But officials in Washington are saying this is just the beginning Today Senator Byron Dorgan sponsored a bill call The Energy Efficiency Promotion Act that would expedite new energy efficiency standards in the U-S Dorgan says it would promote high efficiency vehicles vehicles with advanced batteries and energy storage development The bill would accelerate new standards for residential appliances and develop advanced lighting technology With the great distances that North Dakotans are forced to drive and our need for energy Dorgan says this bill will mean big things for our state Sen Byron Dorgan D North Dakota Efficiency in buildings efficiency in appliances greater efficiency in automobiles by battery technology and electric drive vehicles all of this I think will be very helpful to our country and especially to North Dakota The bill is being sponsored by three Democrats and four Republicans Dorgan says our country can save tremendous quantities of energy with just minor adjustments in how we use it
