Firewood sold at Menards, etc. is being recalled

North Dakotans are being warned about Taylors Wood Products firewood Officials say the firewood which is sold at Menards and possibly other stores might be infested with emerald ash borers The insects can destroy trees Officials in North Dakota Minnesota and Wisconsin say thousands of bundles of firewood from Taylors came from trees cut in Illinois The state is under quarantine They say the wood did not have the bark removed as required A recall has been issued But officials say it s critical to burn the wood now before any larvae that may be under the bark can develop Agriculture Commissioner Roger Johnson says ash trees are important in North Dakota He says the state has nearly 50-million of them Johnson says Menards has removed all the Taylors firewood stock but some of the firewood had already been sold
