Harvesting Hailed-Out Crop
July 31, 2007 by admin
We have a followup on a story from about a month ago at a Foxholm-area farm The combine is rolling at Jeff Moen s farm - where he s been bringing in a nice-looking winter wheat crop for the past few days We visited his farm in late June after hail destroyed hundreds of acres He says the northern part of the field was a total loss but here in the southern end he s finding much of the wheat has survived - he figures about a 40-percent loss But he says despite the hail losses it s shaping up to be an early successful harvest Jeff Moen Foxholm Farmer I think this hot weather is going to bring it all on pretty fast I think in 2-3 weeks there won t be much harvesting left to do I ll have a couple of later fields that were seeded later but in 2-3 weeks there ll be a lot done Moen says he s moving on now to harvesting field peas - and then on to the rest of his crops CAM 1 2SHOT FIRST LOOK
