Detectives Still Working on Knutson Case

It was news that shocked residents of Minot at the beginning of June a Minot State University student had been murdered at her off campus apartment What followed or didn t follow the news of Butte native and Velva High School graduate Anita Knutson s death was shocking as well Police did not have a suspect in the crime Today the case still remains unsolved Perry Olson visited with an investigator in the case this morning where he learned there is still evidence the department has yet to see Perry Olson - KX News Still everyday the search for Anita Knutson s killer goes on Dan Strandberg - MPD Detective I took a lead just yesterday that turned up to be old but we get leads and we do follow them up Investigators still follow leads that come in on the murder that happened behind be and they are also waiting on data from forensic evidence that could not be processed in state and has yet to come back to the department Dan We are still waiting on results from the lab They had to farm some of the items out to another agency some of the trace evidence that we collected that the lab didn t have anyone qualified to analyze that That evidence could open new doors in the case and give more direction than they now have Dan Some of that shows some promise and gets me kind of excited Those results were expected this month but Strandberg has heard nothing yet But he isn t worried noting that a case like this takes patience like a past murder investigation that led to the eventual arrest of Richard McNair Dan That case took some time before that broke I can think of several sexual assault cases that took a long time Part of that is waiting for results from whoever is processing our evidence Obviously the past few months has been the hardest on Anita s family but they have given their assistance whenever asked Dan Boy the family has been really good They work with us in any way they can and realize we are doing all we can They seem like a really nice family A family waiting and hoping a solution to this case comes and soon Perry Olson KX News Strandberg says the department has also worked with the FBI BCI and Ward County Sheriff s Department on the case
