Work is winding down for the season in this assembly shop just north of Minot This crew is putting the finishing touches on the remaining few headers at Aemsco that are headed for dealers and producers around the country Bob Daws Aemsco Marketing Director We have five to seven working at the end of the season At the peak of the season it s 15 to 20 just on the Corn headers That s right corn headers being assembled in North Central North Dakota Aemsco Marketing Director Bob Daws it s not the place most people would think to find an assembly plant for such a thing but for the companies they re doing business with it s the perfect place Daws We re in the perfect location for those Canadian based companies We re two to three days closer to the market place We have to major ports Pembina and Portal But Aemsco hasn t limited themselves to just the Western Hemisphere These Geringhoff corn headers are direct from Germany Daws The components come in here mainly broken down and we do finally assembly here and haul it out to a different destination all across the country from the northeast to Maine all the way down to Texas and even up into Ontario in Northeast Canada What has really put Aemsco on the global map recently is their 24 row corn header The largest is the world Daws Which is 33 larger than the next closes corn header on the market They build to specification what the dealer or producer wants with prices ranging from 45 thousand dollars all the way up to 160 thousand dollars When the season is over for corn headers they move on to assembling sprayers airseeders chisel plows and augers Daws Basically if a manufacture will build it we can assemble it here But surprisingly the assembly shop is just one of the divisions of Aemsco They have a sales and marketing division that markets and distributes product across the country and into Canada and a warehouse and transport division Daws When the Business started in 1975 it was very simple since then it s progressively grown into marketing more companies more produce around the world now With over 50 people on staff at times and growing from a mere 5 million dollars in sales in 2000 to doing 45 to 50 million dollars in sales in 2007 Aemsco is certainly company with a big secret of success Success that s hidden in plain sight of the Magic City Daws If our forecast maintain we ll be at 75 million dollars next year in 2008 With Your Eye On Agriculture Shaun Sipma KX News CAM13 SHOT SPORTS
