If your neighbor is hurt sometimes you ll take a meal over to them mow their lawn or shovel their walk just to help out You ve probably heard of Farm Rescue it s a non profit based on the same concept As Donnell Preskey reports Farm Rescue s been going for two years and it s success is bringing in great yields This is not Bill Gross field he doesn t get any money from what s harvested yet when he looks out this cab he feels proud Bill Gross Farm Rescue In everyones life I believe there should be a part where you help people and my way of helping people is through farm rescue Gross started Farm Rescue a non profit organization that helps farmers with major injuries Bill Gross Farm Rescue I ve seen neighbors and all around the community of farmers being injured and neighbors coming to help Now days there s just fewer farms and fewer children on those farms and it s harder for neighbors to help one another So I thought there should a formal organization to help family farmers And they are helping Bill says Farm Rescue has exceeded his expectations They planted crops for ten North Dakota farm families in 2006 In 2007 they added harvesting and expanded into South Dakota Minnesota and Montana By the end of the year Farm Rescue will help 30 farmers Bill Gross Farm Rescue It s definately rewarding for myself and other volunteers to be helping these families that need the help It s their livelyhood and if they can t get their crop harvested or planted it could be devestating to these families For some families what farm rescue does for them could mean the difference between continuing their operation or loosing it Near Wilton Donnell Preskey KX News Bill says Farm Rescue wouldn t be helping so many farmers if it weren t for the volunteers and sponsors There are close to 100 sponsors - who help with funding donating equipment and fuel To learn more about farm rescue how it can help someone you know or how you can help go to www farmrescue org
