ND Economy helped by crops

North Dakota farmers are getting double the usual price for their durum wheat and barley And officials say producers aren t the only ones who will benefit from the record commodity prices The influx of cash in farmers pockets will boost North Dakota s economy And state budget director Pam Sharp says it also could mean greater income tax collections and more sales tax and motor vehicle tax collections The extent of the impact is uncertain since the additional spending by farmers might be spread out over time But Sharp says the good times in Agriculture are certainly flowing through the entire economy Many farmers plan to clear up debt with the extra income they re getting from record commodity prices
