During the fall hunting seasons the people involved in one local business will put in lots of extra hours on the job Hensen s Fur and Leather Center located on 20th Avenue SE is owned by Rich and Dianne Hensen Rich started a taxidermy shop in Glenburn in 1971 in 1986 moved his business to Minot and a few years ago bought out Porter Brothers Fur and Leather He has leathers and furs sportsmen s items a rendezvous area and many unique things He also buys and cures deer hides as well as furs Area sportsmen have become a big help in this part of his business Rich Hensen Hensen s Fur and Leather We started working with local sports groups to make it easy for people to get rid of deerskins They donate them to local organizations to get some benefit out of it Hensen s Fur and Leather is in the process of expanding their showroom and updating their look After 28 years of being located in the North Dakota Highway Department building east of Minot the Highway Patrol has moved to a building owned by the Farm Bureau at this location 2201 6th Street SE Capt Gary Orluck says his agency needed more space and this move has worked out well for them especially since they have easy access to the highways around Minot Construction work is beginning on the guest house near Trinity the building that used to be Design and Decor When complete next spring it will be a 12 room guest house for family members of critical patients at the hospital Trinity is holding a contest to name the guest house You can drop off suggestions at Trinity along with a 10-dollar donation In Williston there s a new optometrist Dr Amanda Lee at Dakota Eye Care located inside Wal-Mart A ribbon cutting was held recently Dr Lee is a native of Minot and had the opportunity to own her own business in Williston For Business Beat I m Carla Burbidge
