Schafer on Farm Bill Progress
February 28, 2008 by admin
It has been in the news now for months the battle to come to terms on a new Farm Bill So is 2008 the year it will be done Good Afternoon I m Donnell Preskey Congress is working on a tight deadline they have two weeks to get most of the work that needs to be done on the farm bill complete U-S Secretary of Agriculture Ed Schafer says progress needs to be made on a farm bill now so that Congress can act before the 15th of March That s when the current farm bill expires Schafer says if progress is made an extension is possible if not Ed Schafer - US Secretary of Agriculture but if we don t have the framework and a good amount of work done by March 15 I think that we won t see a Farm Bill done this year If a farm bill is not done this year it is possible the current bill agreed to in 2002 could be extended a year or maybe even two
