This year s Farmbill is bringing some changes our producers need to know about The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service Chief-Arlen Lancaster traveled from Washington D C to Bismarck to explain the 2008 Farm Bill conservation provisions Lancaster says the Soil Conservation Security program better known as CSP-is the program undergoing the most changes CSP is a voluntary program providing financial and technical assistance to promote the improvement of soil water air energy plant and animal life Lancaster says one of the biggest changes and benefits is the program now being available to every producer every year But nationwide the program is limited to 12 7 million acres-meaning not all producers who apply will be chosen Lancaster says some parts of the CSP program are still in the motions He says he hopes it will be completed by the spring of 2009
