One country s cattle industry is dying now they are turning to America for help Joe Frenzel is a cattle producer in the Dickinson area Frenzel was one of 5 individuals selected from the upper midwest by the Ukraine Ministry of Agriculture to take a look at their beef industry He says it was an enlightening experience He says before the collapse of the Soviet Union the Ukraine had 36 million head of cattle Now there are 7 million Joe Frenzel Beef Producer andamp quot Most of their meat is imported from eurpoe and quite frankly Euprope is seeling them what they don t want The quality is not good So they are trying to figure out how they can expand their beef industry andamp quot Frenzel says the Ukraine s climate and soil are very similar to North Dakota He says they are currently researching shipping embryos and bull semen to the Ukraine to help get them started He says most of this project is at their cost
